Leeds have reportedly refused a £4M "test the water" bid for winger Robert Snodgrass from the Hammers this morning. They are looking for £6M. West Ham are countering. Perhaps £4.5M and Sears?
Lewis McGugan may not be the man West Ham should target if the club is looking for a wide player. He is adamant that he doesn't enjoy playing wide, and that a central midfield role is what he wants. He convinced the Forest manager to play him there on Saturday against the Hammers, and look what happened. What concerns me about McGugan is his mental inflexibility; a team player should be willing to play anywhere - within reason. Is he the man for us?
It is now reported that West Ham have just submitted a counter offer to Rangers for Jelavic. It is another £500K, more cash up front and a sell on clause. Rangers picked Jelavic up for £4 million and he signed a four-year-deal. It is also reported that, despite discussions at West Ham, Piquionne is unlikely to leave during this window because of player wage demands. I'm still hoping someone will come in for him at the last moment. It's probably pie in the sky, but optimism can't hurt!
Paul

I'm a West Ham fan living in Nottingham, and a lot of my Forest mates say Mcgugan can be very lazy in midfield. Not sure he is the man for us...Instead of looking for wide players...why not START playing Robert Hall out wide. He was magic when he came on against Sheff Wed late on in the second half!!!! He is a massive massive prospect, and in my opinion is biggest ever talent EVER!!!
ReplyDeleteId rather us pay 10M for Rhodes and stop looking at this average crap in other leagues. Scottish premier league is PISH.
ReplyDeletePiquionne should be paid nothing till he hits that net, wage demands at the moment he aint worth 2 bob piss taker............COYI
ReplyDeletethink we need rhodes and wittingham plus maybe m.bates good full back funny name.
ReplyDeleteCouldnt agree more Hall was electric against Wednesday and needs to be brought along in the Championship.Has the pace we need.
ReplyDeletesnoddy aint all that, the word inconsistent springs to mind.
ReplyDeleteActually I see him quite regularly and he's VERY consistent when fit. Past few seasons he's had bad patches as he has been injured. End of last season he was playing with a back injury. Season before that he'd missed all of the pre-season and 4 months of the normal season.
Deleteinconsistent, you obviously no nothing , 23 starts 10 goals 8 assist for a right winger. yeah inconsistent that you DEREK. watch football then comment.
Deleteim getting fed up with all the hype,8m for jelavic, and also leeds want 8m for snodgrass, what is it with these players,if these players have ambition then they should come to west ham playing premiership football next year is shawly better than playing in the spl mickey mouse league and the championship is hardly great, were not playing near a best footie and we are top of the league coyis
ReplyDeleteAmbition?? You were relegated because you aren't good enough to play pemiership footbal, simples ... also it strikes me that without the 90million in parachute payments you would be at the bottom of the championship with no decent players ... It really pisses me off how a team can work through the leagues with little money yet a club who is shit and clearly so by being relegated, can get given so much money for being the worst team in the league and then try and get promotion again thanks to all the money that no other teams in the championship have.
DeleteIt's about time these payments were stopped, you were relegated for a reason and as for Snodgrass, he'll never go to West Ham, trust me on that !!
he wont go to any premier club for 6 m 500k for an unproven not played in the ,so top flight sounds a good price to me but what do i no,what i can say is we will be playing in the premiership next season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deletewest ham have one of the best youth policies around the likes of rio, lampard, joe cole ,glen johnson,defoe,carrick................have all gone on to top teams so im sure with our youth players coming through hall, moncour, lee and co would still get the hammers back to were they belong in the premiership..
DeleteTell you what you are right we weren't good enough. What about Leeds then?? Did you drop like flies after your board screwed up? Sound familiar? You got parachute payments too, relative to the money that was in the league at the time so get real, only reason you are going on about money is because you are going nowhere fast! And you ain't even good enough for the championship! We have gambled to get promoted, Leeds sold and ended up a less than mediocre team, we both got history, but that counts for nothing outside PL so man up and accept what your team is! And that's championship quality at best. Rather yo-to and try to be better than have no ambition anymore and hope for mediocrity!
DeleteCouldn't agree more with the above comment! We got relegated because a number of factors on and off the pitch, but either way we are still a better club than Leeds and always will be, that's why we are sitting top of the league and are gonna be playing PL football next season, so you can moan all you like about money but your lot have probably had more money coming into the club going up and down the leagues than we have, players come to us because they know a good team when they see one!!!!
DeleteSo next time you want to have a little rant about a shite team, and bore everyone about parachute payments why don't you look a little closer to home pal COYI
wittingham is thrice the player snodgrass is.FACT!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou obviously have never seen snodgrass play if you think that
DeleteWhittingham has a cup final at Wembley to look forward to - he aint going anywhere. Rhodes looks great, but is playing in the third tier of English football which is about as crap as the SPL & £8m is too much for both of them!
ReplyDeletewhittingham lacks ambition as well again over rated wacthed him on a number of ocasions and average player in an average league and the only thing cardiff have to look forward to is getting smashed by liverpool facted
Deleteif hes that good why is he playing in the championship for leeds, the only thing he would get excited about is the play offs this year and every year if hes that good then he should be playing at man utd lmfao hes ok but not worth 10m do ya self a favour and come back down to earth clearly your in a dream world.and as for best winger when we get matty taylor back hes proven in the prem one word quality.coyis
ReplyDeleteSnodgrass is worth £10m is he? Interesting for a winger who, from all accounts, has no pace. A very good player undoubtably but even Leeds are quoting £6m as a negotiating figure - probably worth half your estimation & a deal will be done. Say thank you & good-bye!
ReplyDeleteall these dreamers on here taylor plays wide left or right facted matty taylor will be playing in the premiership next year snodgrass will be playing in the championship thats the differance.
ReplyDeleteMr C. Yes, the Scottish international Robert Snodgrass has no pace. But pace is a commodity you don't really need if you've got the ability and control to drift past opponents almost at will. And it's true -Snodgrass is 3 times the player Taylor is. And yes, even Lionel Messi has comparatively no pace either...
ReplyDelete8 goals in 8 games plus the top assist maker in the league all done in a pretty poor leeds side hmmm sounds much better than taylor 2 me lads n I'll bet u my mortgage he'll b playin prem football nxt season.
ReplyDeleteLeeds are a great selling club ... look at Gradin and Beckford. Lets wait until the summer. he will be cheaper then!
ReplyDeleteCan't see snodgrass going to yo yo never won out for thirty years hammers get real west ham don't sign any body unless big Sam gets his cut in the deal
DeleteNot 2 mention tht howson jst goin 2 norwich, leeds hav a few decent players who will all prob leave in the summer coz they aint goin up, adam clayton any1? seem 2 remember him running the show against us last time we played
ReplyDeleteForget snoddy, last time I looked westham were in same league as leeds and they are by far the biggest club in that league with by far the biggest fan base around the world and never lose players to a club in this league even when they were in L1.he along with any key player is not for sale and that was on os,howson was sold because he wants prem football now and 2 mill for player with only 6 months on contract is good business, taking away prem parachute payments leeds have the biggest turnover and make profit every season since admin.west ham should pay off their 100 mill debt before spending.
DeleteBeckford wasn't sold. Leeds let him go on a free. And Gradin? Who's he then?
ReplyDeletethe only reason why taylors not been mensioned is hes be out for 7 weeks, clearly a set piece exspert ,keep ya snoddy, beckford what a player scored once in the prem, laugthing stock, champions whtid.
ReplyDeleteHammer-You're right about us running the show last time we played. You were lucky to escape with a draw. As for Clayton, as he isn't one of the highest earners at Leeds let's see what happens.
ReplyDeleteSnodgrass will never go to West Ham- just ain't big enough for him, he will wait for a top 10 team to sign him, not a permanent yo -yo club.
ReplyDeleteyou clearly dont no anything. snodgrass is playing for a mid table championship side and west ham WILL BE playing PREMIERSHIP FOOTBALL next season cause were clearly to good for this division and as for selling ya captain to norwich for 2m say no more.............
Deleterabbit and hare ,no team gets promoted in january !!!!!
DeleteSomeone on here will claim we are a historically bigger club than Leeds-we aren't!!
ReplyDeletebut at least we will be premiership next season
Lets stop slating each other girls!!!! As I said in my earlier post ROBERT HALL is a frightening talent, will rip teams apart down the wing and has a fantastic left foot....if Hall was playing each week our donkey strikers including Piq would be banging in the goals from his service. Id rather us sign a decent goalie who can actually kick a ball out and keep it in play and now and again throw the ball out to start a quick attack instead of dwelling on the ball b4 looking around to see if a striker is behind him b4 he rolls the ball down on the floor and hoofs it upfront for big Cole to head it on to NO ONE!!!! We have Hall, Montano...Think we should sell Cole,Piq,Sears, and Green as its apparent he will leave for nothing in the summer!!!COYI
ReplyDeleteI'm a Leeds Fan and last comment is spot on..... West Ham will be in the prem next season and I believe as champoins. Leeds have history but we need good times again.
ReplyDeletejames i no what you mean about green,i no he does fluff about sometimes and his kicking is sometimes poor but to say replace him is madness hes a quality keeper and some of the saves hes done week in week out in truely world class.and he will sigh a new contract but he wont be getting hes 40k a week plus that hes been use to
ReplyDeletejames rob green is a top class keeper hes proven that week in week out,i no he fluffs about and lacks urgentcy but the saves hes made are truely world class
ReplyDeleteI like Greeno and have generally always supported him, but if he is just in the team because he is a good shot stopper then that is worrying...i am West Ham thorough and through and go to every home game and hate moaning fans who slag off our own players!!! But if people are saying a goalie is world class because he is a shot stopper then they need to think about what attributes are actually needed to be a top class goalie. There are several goalies in the championship who are 10 years younger and fantastic shot stoppers who have stopped us scoring goals , for example Fielding from Derby and Murphy from Coventry. I love some of the superb saves he has made over the seasons but seriously world class goalies don't blow hot and cold and can actually kick a ball. Did anyone see how many times he kicked the ball out of play against Coventry and Forest at home??? it was really poor. I'd love it if he was really world class, because he is such a nice guy!!!
DeleteTo correct the idiot who thinks WHUFC had a £90m parachute payment. It is not anywhere near that much in total and it is spread over 4 years. It has always existed (in modern times) and it's main aim is to try and prevent relegated football clubs from the media circus that is the 'Premier League' going bust instantly (mainly the drop in TV revenue). If this payment didn't exist the 4,5,6 successful clubs would get bigger, better and richer no one would watch the premier league as it would not be interesting. If West Ham are promoted this year the remaining funds for the 3 years is shared between the football league clubs. KNOW YOUR FACTS !!!
ReplyDeleteLeeds fan here. Just to dispel any suggestions that Snodgrass is inconsistent. If he had pace he'd be at a top 10 team in the Prem. He's the one player all Leeds fan agree is Prem class.
ReplyDeleteAnd we are a selling club. Bates is killing us.
Snoddy is not inconsistent,he had the most assists last season and even though he was injured at start of season he has most assists this season and most gls of any winger in championship so far.whittingham will cost half as much as snoddy for a reason and you never hear of prem clubs interested in him like snoddy?teams in championship are always putting 2 players on him when he has ball and more offten than not he beats them with his skill.his will go in summer but to much bigger stage that west ham.
Deletesnodgrass is class. if we (leeds) didnt have him we'd be fighting relegation from the championship. every ounce of our comes when the ball is at his feet.....i'm tired of bates, but i'll continue to go and support the team...unless snodgrass is sold, in which case, there's no reason to pay my money.
ReplyDeleteBelieve you me, Snodgrass is good, very good, one of the cleverest and most skillful British born footballers I have seen in a lot of years (56 to be precise) of supporting Leeds. Sure, he lacks a change of pace, but he can do anything with both feet, plays the game very intelligently, and has a real kiler instinct. He is worth, in my book, at least 10m, and if I was, say Dalglish, I would sign him tomorrow. Leeds will not sell him now - of that I am sure; but will do so in the summer if we don't go up. He is an ace bloke too: turned on the 2011 Xmas lights in a Leeds suburb.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if its a lack of Snoddys pace you are worried about then your running track will come in handy when you move to the new stadium !
ReplyDeleteWill be gutted to lose snods but it looks likely - why dont you wait another few months and get him for sod all like everyone does at the great Leeds everything must go sale !
A P****d off Leeds Fan !
West Ham are the most overrated club in Britain. "History"??? What, a couple of FA Cup wins in the last 50 years? You have NEVER mounted a genuine title challenge, you have been in Europe about 4 times and your 'Glory days' of Moore, Hurst, Peters 'playing the West Ham way' you were merely a mid-table team. I suppose that is as good as it could be for a club from a rough part of London. But 'history'? Gimme a break. You are a middling yo-yo club who gets plenty of coverage thanks to the Fleet Street hacks being supporters, no other reason. When you have had as many top 5 league finishes and qualified for Europe as many times as Leeds, then you can be taken seriously.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, enjoy your parachute periods that the Premier League is paying to get you back into the 'elite' division so you can reconvene you're annual relegation battle...
And as for Snodgrass joining you, that says more about the demise of Leeds United than it does the lure of the 'ammers.
Snodgrass is class
ReplyDeleteAll the comments slating Leeds as a mediocre club and not good enough for the Championship just confirm what a large number of Leeds fans believe themselves. We have a Chairman who shows no ambition so its probably true that we're going nowhere fast.
ReplyDeleteAs for West ham definitely playing premiership football next year. A bit presumptious seeing as there are 20 odd games to go and whether you will have the quality to stay there or not should you make it also remains to be seen.
Just wanna say, whether we get snodgrass, jelavic or Tevez, or even none of them! I was over the moon when i first heard we were appointed with Big Sam, and i still am! He has done everything i had expected he would do, bringing stability to our club and making us hard to beat for a change. Sam has my full support and hopefully he will eventually get the %100 appreciation he deserves soon! By the way,we have no right to question his tactics or style of play, especially atm.
